On June 26, 2003, the Supreme Court announced its decision in Lawrence v. Texas. In this decision, the Court struck down a Texas statute criminalizing oral and anal sex by consenting adults and held that the right to liberty under the due process clause gives consenting adults the full right to engage in private sexual conduct without the interference of government.
