In the News: Additional Nixon documents and tapes released
On December 2, the National Archives and the Nixon Presidential Library will be releasing an additional 200 hours of White House tape recordings and 90,000 pages of documents from Richard Nixon’s administration. The recordings, which represent the 12th such release since 1980, cover the period from November 1972 to January 1973. Among the subjects discussed on the tapes are Nixon’s reelection in November and the steps taken to bomb North Vietnam. According to MSNBC, historians are particularly looking for revelations about the notorious Christmas bombing in 1972, “one of the most controversial acts in a divisive war and the most concentrated air attack of the conflict.”
